dBC Lands $7.8M in Defense Contracts

dB Control Lands $7.8 Million in Contracts to Supply Defense Contractors with TWT Amplifiers, Microwave Power Modules

Fremont, Calif. – dB Control, an established manufacturer known for its reliable, high-power microwave amplifiers, radar transmitters and power supplies, has signed three contracts worth nearly $8 million to provide high-power traveling wave tube (TWT) amplifiers and microwave power modules (MPMs) to major U.S. defense contractors supplying the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force.

The largest two contracts, worth a combined value of $5.8 million, are for airborne applications, both manned and unmanned. The third $2-million contract is intended for shipborne applications, including radar, Electronic Countermeasures (ECM), and data links. The TWT amplifier and MPM product designs have been approved for production, beginning immediately and continuing over the next few years. Due to security regulations, dB Control cannot name the specific customers or military installation.

“Our designs are highly modular, enabling dB Control to rapidly configure power products to meet the specific needs of global military applications,” said Meppalli Shandas, vice president of marketing and a pioneer in MPM development. “Our products are also extremely reliable and able to withstand harsh environments, enabling manufactures to meet the requirements of demanding military environments. We expect continued strong growth over 2008, and are already on track to exceed our booking targets.”
