Fremont Mayor Bill Harrison Tours dB Control

Defense Electronics Manufacturer Helps Put Fremont on Map as Silicon Valley Manufacturing Hotspot

Fremont, Calif. – May 9, 2013 – dB Control, a manufacturer of reliable, high-power microwave amplifiers, radar/electronic countermeasure (ECM) transmitters and power supplies, hosted Mayor Bill Harrison on Monday for a tour of its Warm Springs District facilities. During Mayor Harrison’s visit, it was agreed that dB Control’s steady growth – as well as its cultivation of local talent – will further Fremont’s position as Silicon Valley’s center for manufacturing.

In a recent statement, Mayor Harrison said, “Fremont has quickly become an innovation hub for manufacturing and clean tech, while at the same time providing residents and businesses with an ideal place to live, work and visit. The resources we are putting behind economic and community development create a vibrant place that residents can be proud of and a booming environment that enables companies to create the most cutting-edge technologies and products in the Silicon Valley and across the globe.”

Bolstered by a new BART station planned for the area and the extension of rapid transit to San Jose, city officials predict the addition of an estimated 12,000 new jobs and 3,000 housing units in Fremont.

“One reason dB Control has been so successful is that we’ve been located in Fremont since our founding more than 20 years ago. As Fremont continues to grow, so do we. We are honored that the mayor visited us and are proud to have a strong partnership with the City in addition to being part of its growth,” said dB Control President Fred Ortiz.

dB Control stays connected to the local community by attending government events, collaborating on internship programs and participating in a variety of community outreach initiatives. For example:

  • dB Control executives attend government forums, including the “State of the City” and “State of the Valley” conferences and the “Innovation Board Room” focus group.
  • Several interns from local colleges and universities have been hired as full-time engineers who now work on some of the company’s largest government and commercial projects.
  • Company-wide volunteer initiatives help leave a positive impact on the community, including food/clothing/toy drives, donations to local schools and fundraising events for cancer research.

Since 1990, dB Control’s strategic location within Silicon Valley has allowed for some of the industry’s most skilled engineers, technicians and assemblers. In fact, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce recently wrote an article, entitled “High-Powered Manufacturing Expertise at dB Control” about the company’s success.
