dB CONTROL ACQUISITIONS LAND $10.4 M ORDERS FOR RF SOURCES/RECEIVERS, HIGH-POWER PIN DIODE SWITCHES AND RF ELECTROMECHANICAL SWITCHES

Products Will Be Integrated In US Airborne Electronic Warfare Simulation Systems, Military Ballistics Equipment and Defense Aircraft Flight Instrumentation Systems

Fremont, Calif. – June 11, 2024 – dB Control, a supplier of mission-critical (often sole-source) products worldwide to military organizations, major defense contractors, and commercial manufacturers, announced that, as part of dB Control, the companies it acquired between 2019 and 2022 have landed three contracts worth a total of $10.4 million.

The largest order, a contract worth $5.7 million, is for dB Control’s RF sources and receivers that will be used for US airborne EW simulations. Products include the dB-9001 Instantaneous Frequency Measurement units (IFMs), dB-9002 Dual Frequency IFMs (DIFM) and dB-9004 Integrated Digital Control Units (IDCUs). dB Control’s IFMs and DIFMs measure frequency as well as power level and detect pulse-on-pulse signals. Its IDCU is a complete integrated system controller in a single unit that combines the control and interface power of a DCU with the RF capabilities of a frequency locked oscillator (FLO) and the capabilities of an antenna control unit (ACU). These products were originally designed by TTT-Cubed, a company dB Control acquired in 2019.

A $3.1 million contract was awarded to dB Control for its high-power, RF PIN Diode SP3T Switches (DC to 40.0 GHz) for a Foreign Military Sales ballistics program. These single-pole three-throw switches feature excellent insertion loss, switching speed and high isolation and are available with SMA, 2.92 mm, and Type N connectors. They are available in SPST to SPnT configurations, can be integrated with other functions and ordered in a variety of mounting variations. This line of RF PIN Diode switches were originally developed by Paciwave, a company dB Control acquired in 2021.

A $1.6 million order was awarded this year to Charter Engineering, Inc., (CEI), a company dB Control acquired in 2022. CEI’s RF electromechanical switches will be installed on the latest avionic military electronic flight display systems to ensure reliable control and communication with defense aircraft. CEI will ship large quantities of the RF switches weekly, as required by their Government Prime Contractor.

“dB Control has the advantage of being part of HEICO Corporation’s Electronic Technologies Group that designs, manufactures and sells high-quality, mission-critical and highly reliable subcomponents and subsystems that are used in aviation, defense, electronics and telecommunications,” said dB Control Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mike Lee. “The companies we acquire meet HEICO’s high standards. And like dB Control, these companies ‘make things that make things work.’”

More information about dB Control’s products will be available in Booth 2112 at the IEEE MTTS International Microwave Symposium, June 16-21, in Washington, D.C. At IMS, dB Control will introduce two new products, the dB-9006 Magnum Opus Microwave Synthesizer with a 100 MHz – 27 GHz wide frequency range with best in class phase noise performance, and  dB-8048 2.9-3.3 GHz GaN solid state power amplifier, with 1.5 kW of output power that can be combined to achieve 6kW and 10kW.

dB Control will also exhibit its new dB-8015 very wideband GaN SSPA Microwave Power Module-(2-18 GHz 200W CW) and full line of reliable high- and low-voltage power supplies, high-power TWT Amplifiers (TWTAs) and  microwave power modules (MPMs) for millimeter-wave applications. In addition, Charter Engineering (CEI) will exhibit a large selection of high-power MIL-standard switches with frequency ranges from DC to 40.0 GHz. Numerous configurations are available, including more than 60 series types and variations. All switches offer options for high power, low temperature, and low passive intermodulation (PIM).

 About dB Control

Established in 1990, dB Control supplies mission-critical (often sole-source) products worldwide to military organizations, major defense contractors, and commercial manufacturers. The company designs and manufactures reliable high- and low-voltage power supplies, high-power TWT Amplifiers (TWTAs), microwave power modules (MPMs), transmitters for radar, electronic countermeasures (ECM) and communication applications on airborne, maritime, and ground-based military platforms. After acquiring TTT-Cubed in 2019, Paciwave in 2021, and Charter Engineering in 2022, dB Control expanded its product line to offer coaxial EM and pin diode RF switches, specialized RF/microwave components, integrated microwave subsystems, and custom radio frequency (RF) receivers and sources. dB Control also provides specialized contract manufacturing and repair depot services from its 40,000-square-foot facility in Fremont, California. The company is AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified. More information is available at www.dBControl.com or by calling 1-510-656-2325.
